Desert Snow!

Hurray for snow in the desert! Amazing, right!?! Well, after I awoke from my 4 hour nap the other night, I decided to look outside because through the blinds, it looked funny... Surprised me, I saw snow and tried to wake Brandon up. I wanted pictures! Brandon stole my camera so I didn't get the angles I wanted, but still got pictures! :)

Hungry Hands

Nikolai has been discovering his hands, if that is what you want to call it. It started out as a sucking thing when he was hungry. At least that was one of the ways we knew he was hungry, he sucked on his hands, arms, whatever came near his mouth. At the hospital, he had given himself a bruising on his arm while the photographer was taking pictures because he was sucking on his arm. Well, now he actually is purposefully putting his hands to his mouth.

Ryan's Birthday

was on Saturday, and he turned 25! It is hard to think about, I don't keep track of Ryan (or Alyssa's) ages so much anymore. So, when I think about it, it throws me off a little bit! I was married at 25, and still in school for my bachelors. Here Ryan is at the UofA for his masters/PhD, TA-ing classes, tutoring kids and building up his own college teaching resume thing. As far as I know, no girlfriend to speak of, not that having one is important. Any way this was the first time I left Nikolai for a longer period of time than just going to the store...

A Nikolai Update

As my Dad calls them...

Nikolai is so much fun! Especially when he smiles. I love it! It just makes my heart melt each time he does it, it's great! He is becoming more alert. His tracking (with his eyes) seems to be getting better, and he seems to prefer to hold his head up when being held. He is still a little bobble head, but he is getting better and can go for longer periods before letting it rest on our shoulders. He still dislike tummy time on the mat. We just don't do it often enough.

6 Weeks In...

and I have had my doctor's check-up for after delivery. Everything is good, and everything is a go. Though I have to go back in May 4 days before my birthday...

My top 3 identities. I am Nikolai's Mommy, Brandon's Wife, and just me. Only I think I have focused so much on being Mommy and Wife that being just me has been forced into the background. I feel bad because it seems to be affecting the other identities. I just need to find the new balance of throwing one more into the juggling mix.
