I am so impressed with my friends sewing! She is super novice and she did an excellent job. I just coached her through the process of sewing the outfits together and it just turned out awesome!
About the outfit...
We used the GYCT Designs Tinley Tee for the Shirt and modified it for the vest. The shirt is made using a jersey knit and the vest is minky with binding made from the same material as the skirt. You can see my blog post about that here or head over to her Etsy shop and purchase that here.
The skirt is a basic circle skirt, self drafted. We used four 1/2 circle panels to add to the flowing-fullness of the skirt. The material was from the local discount store (and I purshased some in brown at JoAnn's a while before, man do I feel like a sucker!). We gathered the skirt to match up a waistband cut about 1-2" larger than her waist, made a casing for the elastic cut 2" smaller than her waist. I based it off of the tutorial at Dana Made It
The pink jersey (same material as the shirt) is made from the lolipop leggings* by Peek-A-Boo pattern shop* *affiliate links*. We cut them at the capri length.
And here is the skirt in action! So fun!
Had some photo bombers... :)
And she wore it for her birthday! I am so glad that she liked it! Seriously, my best friend did an awesome job sewing it! I am so proud of her! :)
What kind of outfit would you like to duplicate?
Happy Sewing!
Turned out great Jessica! Love how perfect it looks :)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Chelsea! :)
DeleteWow! This is a great post and I think you hit the nail on the head. The outfit looks almost exactly alike. I would love to try to duplicate some looks from my favorite retail store that is way out of my budget to purchase. Thanks for the idea!
ReplyDeleteThe kid costume for the doll is super pricey too, and this little one doesn't like boomers to well, so we needed something that worked for her. Thanks. It was fun trying to figure out what to use and how to do it. :)
