Happy Halloween: Spider-Man Themed Costumes {Halloween 2015}

I have grown to really love this holiday. For the last couple years Little Man has been adamant about what our theme is to be, last year was Batman. The year before was Peter Pan, but he was not as adamant and more willing to go with the flow on that one. This years theme was: Spider-Man

Little Man's Spider-Man:

  • Top Pattern Used: GYCT Designs Rival Raglan (affiliate links)
  • Fabrics used: 4-way stretch performance fabric
  • Modifications: color blocking and adding a waistband
  • Embelishments: stencil and webbing design made with puffy paint!
  • Bottom Pattern Used: Bonny Leggings by Made for Mermaids
  • Hood: Self drafted, kind of... It wasn't too easy!
  • Boots: self drafted like the hood

Husband's Venom

  • Top was the free Raglan from Melly Sews
  • Bottom were a modified legging pattern. We are the same size, just extended the rise and straightened the legs at the calves a little bit...
  • Fabric was mystique performance from Joann's
  • bottoms were a shiny pleather looking stuff from our local discount shop
  • The hood was the hardest part. We took a saran wrap mold of his head (puncturing holes at the nose and mouth with every wrap) and then taped the whole thing. It took lots of tries with a 'muslin' fabric (my green stuff)

Little Girl's Mrs. Fluffy Lumpkins

My Vulture

  • Top: GreenStyle Creations Centerfield Raglan
  • modifications: extended the front to accommodate the pregnant belly
  • Bottoms: Peg Legs by Patterns for Pirates
  • modifications: maternity modification
  • The fabric was a green knit from the local discount shop
  • Wings: I just used extra green fabric and the husband was going to paint it to look like feathers but...
  • Cowl: I took a piece of white fabric from last year and sewed together to make an infinity scarf.
And for a few more pictures...

Halloween 2015: Little Hippo or Mrs. Fluffy Lumpkins {Spiderman Themed & Kids Clothes Week}

More than a week to go and I have my first costume for the season done <finally> and all thanks to the motivation of Kids clothes week!

The Berry Bunch: Halloween 2015: Little Hippo or Mrs. Fluffy Lumpkins {Spiderman Themed}

My little lady is a hippo for Halloween. Or more specifically if you ask my son, she is the villain Mrs. Fluffly Lumpkins from Spiderman. Who is that? A random character I know nothing about, but trust me. I had to look it up and then wonder how my 4 year just happened to know about this small character in the comics, seriously scaring looking... Here

So, to keep this a little more girly and in the innocence of a little 2 year old girl I just went with a hippo... And I like things to be able to be worn later.

For the top:

I used the Bimaa Sweater by Lou Bee Clothing. My husband found the fabric in the red dot section of JoAnns and I barely bought enough. The hood has an added piece in the front for the mouth/nose. I used felt for the teeth and the ears are the cutest!

My Favorite picture, look at that seriousness!
That turned out pretty close to a hippo looking head I think!

Can you see those nostrils? Such a pain! But it's gonna have to be just fine! Because I am not ripping those seams one more time to try to get them to stick out just right.

For the bottoms:

I used the Lollipop Leggings by Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop (affiliate links). I used the same fabric as the sweater but color blocked the stripes on the side to add interest. She loves them and will not take them off once they are on!

It really was super simple. It only took a couple days once I started, and only sewing in small increments. Once I got past the frustrations with the nostrils. I still am happy with how it turned out! So excited that they can be used for everyday wear too. I love the idea of multipurpose items. ;)

How about you?

Have you picked Halloween costumes yet?

Jocole Fall Blog Tour: Sewing up some Maternity Style Clothes! {Discount + Giveaway!}

The Berry Bunch: Jocole Fall Blog Tour: Sewing up some Maternity Style Clothes! {Discount + Giveaway!}

Welcome to my stop on the Jocole Fall Blog tour! I am loving all the creations that have been made with these patterns. Have you tried out these patterns! I sewn a few and I blogged about the pencil skirt and Peplum top back in May. Check out that post here. Of course that was before I discovered that we were going to be having another baby, and now, the outfit doesn't fit! Perfect time to sew up some maternity wear, and with this awesome fall blog tour, it's the perfect way to get myself into gear (And take a break from Halloween sewing)!
*stay tuned for discount during the tour and raffle at the end of this post!*

The patterns I used were to focused on layering. Not that I get horribly cold during our mild Arizona desert autumns & winters, especially while pregnant. But, it is still chilly enough to need some type of cover up.

I used the Quick Dress & Top as a cardigan. I included the in-seam pockets, and this is the most comfy thing! Size Large is perfect to go around the belly and instead of adding buttons, I am contemplating doing a tie for above the belly. But for now, I am leaving it as it is. I never button or tie the things any way!

Modifications: Originally done by Becca of Free Notion, I used her mod to make this a great cardigan.
Seriously, in love with this cardi! I have been wearing it every morning around the house and took it with me to the theaters last night! Perfect!

I used the Classy Cowlneck Bodice of the mix and match series as a cute simple top. I love the capped sleeves! I used a thin gauze-like (I say like because it was gifted fabric and super light weight, perfect for layering over a cami!)

Modifications: Graded up from the waist down to accommodate the growing belly. Extended the length.
 I am super stoked at how nicely it covered my 25 week bump! With some room to spare! Yay!

2015 Finish Along: Quarter 4: Goals {2015 FAL Q4}

After nothing finished in Quarter 3, I am determined yet exhausted! I need to at least finish something! With Halloween almost upon us that should give a bit more free time as long as the energy is there. I need to get things out of that craft room.

And, here is my list for this quarter.

1. Labyrinth Lap Quilt... I am still debating the backing for this, if I really want to use it...but I have nothing else...

The Berry Bunch: 2015 Finish-A-Long: Labyrinth Lap Quilt

2.  My band shirt memory quilt... I found a backing by andover fabrics! It's perfect! There is no reason for this not to get done now! Ha!

The Berry Bunch: 2015 Finish-A-Long: Band Shirt Memory Quilt

3. This is baby girl's baby shower quilt.  No extra signers. I think it is time to just sew it up. She needs a momma made quilt. The blocks are back into the box I got them in... :( Poor thing. By this time I was finishing up Nikolai's first quilt.

4. This circle quilt. It was supposed to be for a fabric challenge... I look at this and love it still. I need to finish it!

The Berry Bunch: 2015 Finish-A-long: Circle Quilt

5. These are supposed to be some Peasant Tops pattern by Tie Dye Diva Patterns (affiliate link) for Baby Girl. I was working on them, then got carried away with something else and I hadn't gone back to them and now, sitting in a manilla folder in the craft room. Better finish them before she cannot wear them!

The Berry Bunch: 2015 Finish Along: Peasant Tops

6. This is going to be Little Man's Going to Grandma's/&or/Grandpa's over night bag. It is going to be the Dorothy Day Tripper by Swoon Sewing Patterns (affiliate links) ...
&
7. If I have enough left over I also want to make a Tiny Explorer Backpack by Diedelbug Handmade for him when we go to MOPs meetings, the Zoo, and anything else that seems to fit with learning and fun. ;)

The Berry Bunch: 2015 Finish-Along: Dinosaur Bags
