Michelangelo Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle Inspired: Seaside Summer Top by GYCT Designs

Michelangelo Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: GYCT Seaside Summer Top: BunchOBerries

Little Man has outgrown his Seaside Summer Tops that I made for him almost a year ago (check them out here) when I tested the pattern for GYCT Designs. He loves those shirts still and tries with all his might to get them over his head. Poor thing, they no longer fit over his steadily growing noggin! Each time I have to remove them into his 3T box for clothes that don't fit and each time he takes them right back out. It's cute.

So this is the perfect time to make him a new shirt!

I had little man pick out of my solids. Partly cause I cannot get to the patterned fabrics and because they were sitting out in the living room... And of course he picks... Green and Orange! His favorite Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle is Michelangelo. So I decided to color block the ends of the sleeves and the end of the body of the shirt. I added a bit of growing room in length. The kid is eating more than Hubby and I combined lately! I'm just waiting for nothing to fit!

Hubby says it looks like a Green Bay Packers shirt. Not at all my intention, but hey, if it works? Any Green Bay Packers fans? Hubby's best friend and Little Man's adopted Uncle is a fan so we can make it work. If you want to make it in the colors of your favorite team it makes a pretty neat game-day attire! :) Go Team!

I wasn't sure at first, but the green fabric is a voile! It hangs so Beautifully! I like the extra look the orange gives. I just took 2.5 inches off the sleeve (not factoring in seam allowance) and added the orange. I cut the band twice as long to fold. I did it like a cuff to avoid hemming, and for the finished look.

This kid cracks me up! Almost every picture was a goofy one! He knew our neighbors were out too and he 'needed' to go say hi! And, he wanted to show off his new mommy made shirt, but he wouldn't say that. He just shared that right away when we got there, "Look at my new shirt my mommy made me!" It makes me happy.

This guy makes me happy.

Happy Sewing!

    1. Awesome, thanks! I'd like to say we are fans, but really football doesn't happen much at all at this house...
