A Good Pair of Pants Aren't Sewn in a Day: Women's Bundle Up {BlogTour with Winter Wear Designs and GreenStyle Creations}

I love jeans. They are comfy. And, when they fit right, they make a girl look good.

The hard thing is? A good fitting pair of jeans are so hard to find! For the past year, I have been wanting to make my own pants but scared out of my mind! The Bundle Up Women's tour was the perfect opportunity to check this one of the list, and I sewed up a super cute tank to go with my new jeans! (don't worry, they both fit in my new capsule wardrobe)

There was so many awesome patterns, it was hard to pick. But having been wanting to sew up a pair of jeans, the choice was clear. Check out these awesome patterns in the Bundle Up Women!

I signed up to sew GreenStyle Creations Jillian Tank and Winter Wear Designs Real Deal Jeans.

Isn't this such a cute combo? Love the jeans, so comfortable! The top is so lightweight, cool, and flowing. Perfect for summer! The under tank is perfect to pair with other tops, or on it's own. Love the whole combo!

Winter Wear Designs Real Deal Jeans:

Modifications: I adjusted the rise in the back to account for my tiny hiney. sadly, most of my girth is in the front. But, I haven't been in single digit sizes since I first met my husband a little over 8 years ago and this was a size 8! I am super duper excited about that!

Embelishments: I added some free motion quilting to the pockets. Love how it looks and adds that perfect extra touch!

The Pattern: Honestly, I was terrified to sew up a pair of jeans. Why did I wait so long? So I could sew up this pair! The directions are simple and easy to follow. The pattern pieces themselves weren't difficult either. The pattern has cutting lines for shorts, capris or pants! I almost went with the shorts option, but I rarely even wear my capris. I just love pants.

One thing that I think scared me was the time. You have got to make a muslin first to get a great fitting pair of jeans! Make sure you are at your best physically too. Trust me, when you are bloated is not a great time to make a muslin! I may, or may not, know this from experience. ;) But in the end, with the time invested, you get an awesome pair of jeans!

GreenStyle Creations Jillian Tank:

I added nothing and changed nothing to this pattern. Isn't it awesome!

The Pattern: super simple. easy to follow directions. It is also a quick sew! The outertank works great for woven or knit fabric! It comes with a bandeau option, or even a sports bra! This is really like 4 patterns in 1!

The back is cool. And I am so proud of these pants!!

Winter Wear Designs Phresh Blazer & EYMM Free Style Pants - Girl's Bundle Up Blog Tour

Welcome to my stop on the Girl's Bundle Up Tour! Such amazing patterns in the bundle!

I got to sew up the Phresh Blazer by Winter Wear Designs and the Free Style Pants by EYMM! Little girl loves them and so far will not let me take them off her! If I try to undo the button, uh-oh! Watch out!

I did not do any modifications to the patterns. I sewed them up as is written in the direction! :)

No embelishments either. When I pulled out the cheetah fabric I was thinking in my head "cheetah girls" But I love the simplicity of this combo!

I will admit I was terrified of sewing up the blazer. I felt it might be outside my sewing abilities. But not to fear, the Phresh Blazer directions are so easy to follow and made sewing it up a breeze! I thought it was going to take me a week, but it only took me a day! I cannot wait to sew up another one!

I love the detail of the topstitching.

The Free Style pants were simple and quick with directions to modify the fit for your preference. They look super comfy. I want a pair for me! Ha!

I had a lot of fun sewing these up. Baby girl loves them. :)

Bundle Up for Boys - Spiderman

Welcome to my stop on the blog tour for Bundle Up! And, so excited that these patterns are for boys! Yay sewing for boys!

Check out all the awesome patterns for this bundle. I have to say it is a pretty incredible collection! And I hope to be able to make a purchase soon. Better hurry though, it ends the 29th! That is in 2 days! Then the patterns can be purchased through the designer at regular price.

The two patterns I sewed up for the tour are the Letterman Jacket by Fairytale Pattern Designs and the Butler Britches by Brownie Goose.

The Letterman Jacket by Fairytale Pattern Design

Fabric: I used a red suiting bottomweight for the body and a blue bottom weight from the "jean" section at Joann's. The lining is flannel. I used an interlock for the neck binding, cuffs and waistband.

Modifications: The lining is not in the original pattern. I used the pattern pieces and modified to the bodice front pieces to incorporate the facing as a panel. I quilted the bodice flannel pieces over cotton batting to add in an extra warmth layer. The sleeves are not quilting, just lining and shell fabrics.

Because I used the lining (and Little man was extremely upset when I put the shell on him to try because he couldn't see the pictures) we also made this jacket reversible! All seams are hidden.

Embelishments: I traced the Spiderman Logo on freezer paper. I used the same image for both, just resized when printing.

Butler Britches by Brownie Goose

Fabric: I used the same blue bottomweight and flannel from the jacket.

Modifications: I used the flat front waistband option but did an adjustable elastic by creating my own buttonhole elastic. 

Embelishments: I did not add any of my own. I had a hard time matching the button color and little man wanted a brown button... So brown it was.

The patterns were relatively quick to sew and so much fun! Directions were clear and easy to follow. :)
