Happy Halloween: Batman Theme Costumes: Batman

On Sunday I shared with you our theme we used for Halloween. Batman!

Here is little man's costume... Batman

My inspiration was the Adam West batman. But instead of blue, I used black as that was something I already had at home.

Body

Pattern Used: Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop's Lullaby Body Suit (affiliate link) size 3T

Modifications: I color blocked the bodysuit in gray, yellow and black.

Embellishments:  I appliqued the yellow circle for the logo and the gold fabric for the belt. The bat logo was stenciled using freezer paper stenciling.

Leggings

Pattern Used: Titchy Threads Fancy Pants Leggings 3T length and 2T width

Hood, cape and cuffs

Self drafted

I used a stabilizer for the bat ears on the hood. Used a button with loop for the cape. The spikes on Batman's cuffs are made using felt.

BAM sign

One thing that little man said he wanted was a BAM sign so her can defeat the bad guys. the shape was cut out of a cereal box, and a strip for the back to make a handle. spray paint your background on one side only. Permanent marker for the lettering. Super fun, easy and quick. Little man was thrilled!

I am pretty satisfied with the outcome. :)

Happy Halloween: Batman Theme Costumes

Hope you all had a Happy Halloween!

I am just glad it's done and over with. I love dressing up and seeing the kids dressed up. But, I am ready to move on to other projects without the added stress of complete utter perfection.

And our costume theme from this year, Batman! I briefly mentioned our costumes here with the printable I used to plan the outfits. I think we turned out pretty good!

I will spend the next few days talking about the costumes (something I intended before November), but it'll give me the opportunity to clean-up and play catch up on the mess that is in the craft-room. As that always seems to be the case after this time of year! LOL

Baby Girl: Harley Quinn (See my guest post on Friend's Stitched Together for Crafting Con)

Little Man: Batman (see my post about it at Berry Bunch Batman Costume)

Hubby: Scarecrow
  • Hood: self drafted
  • Suit: already owned
Me: Cat Woman
How do you do your costumes for Halloween? Dress up or no? Do you do themes, or no?

Halloween Costumes: Planning the Outfits {Free Printable}

I am so excited to share with you a printable for planning out kids Halloween costumes! I need lists to get things done. You should have seen my hair-brained attempts last year at creating the halloween costumes. I felt I was all over the place! After having created and {finally} shared my party planning printables with you through GYCT Sizzlin Summer Series and Baby Girl's 1st Birthday, I figured I could make one for Halloween costumes! Maybe then I might be a bit organized with it?

Download the Printable here: Halloween Costume Planning Printable. I use one for each member of the family.

I know this is a bit early too, but if you are like me and need as much time as you can get then this is even pushing it!

So on the sheet, I have a spot for the patterns to use and a place to paste the inspiration picture for reference! I wish my printer was printing in color. So don't mind the black and white.

I am using a combo of the Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop's Aloha Burn Blocker and Classic Footed Pajamas  for baby girl's costume and a combo of the Peek-A-Boo Pattern Shop's Lullaby Line Bodysuit and Lap Tee and the Classic Ringer Tee (affiliate links). They are still a work in progress, we'll see. I don't even have a clue about what to do for my costume yet.

I thought this would be handy for taking with when shopping. I cannot shop for a ton of fabric at one time, and need to have a list handy and ready to just grab, cut, then go. The kids get super fussy super fast. So I have a section for the notions and fabric amounts needed.

The "to do" section is a checklist you can use to write down what needs to be done in order to finish the costume. Complete with a finished check box at the bottom of the sheet. Yeah, because it is always fantastic to say, "hey, I have finished something!" :)

As you can see, I actually added a background to this printable and I cannot handle not having it printed in color. I already started coloring in one as I was filling it out! LOL
