2015 Finish Along: Quarter 4: Goals {2015 FAL Q4}

After nothing finished in Quarter 3, I am determined yet exhausted! I need to at least finish something! With Halloween almost upon us that should give a bit more free time as long as the energy is there. I need to get things out of that craft room.

And, here is my list for this quarter.

1. Labyrinth Lap Quilt... I am still debating the backing for this, if I really want to use it...but I have nothing else...

The Berry Bunch: 2015 Finish-A-Long: Labyrinth Lap Quilt

2.  My band shirt memory quilt... I found a backing by andover fabrics! It's perfect! There is no reason for this not to get done now! Ha!

3. This is baby girl's baby shower quilt.  No extra signers. I think it is time to just sew it up. She needs a momma made quilt. The blocks are back into the box I got them in... :( Poor thing. By this time I was finishing up Nikolai's first quilt.

4. This circle quilt. It was supposed to be for a fabric challenge... I look at this and love it still. I need to finish it!

The Berry Bunch: 2015 Finish-A-long: Circle Quilt

5. These are supposed to be some Peasant Tops pattern by Tie Dye Diva Patterns (affiliate link) for Baby Girl. I was working on them, then got carried away with something else and I hadn't gone back to them and now, sitting in a manilla folder in the craft room. Better finish them before she cannot wear them!

6. This is going to be Little Man's Going to Grandma's/&or/Grandpa's over night bag. It is going to be the Dorothy Day Tripper by Swoon Sewing Patterns (affiliate links) ...
&
7. If I have enough left over I also want to make a Tiny Explorer Backpack by Diedelbug Handmade for him when we go to MOPs meetings, the Zoo, and anything else that seems to fit with learning and fun. ;)

2015 Finish Along: Quarter 3: Finishes {2015 FAL Q3}

So my finishes out of my goals for this quarter?

Nothing...

I've got nothing...

I've hardly done any sewing these last few months.
I haven't posted anything in a month.

Man, I've been slacking!

And, I need to get those UFOs and WIPs out of the craft room...

What I have done:
I did make progress on little girl's baby shower memory quilt though... I was hoping to have that finished in the next couple days, but Halloween costumes are getting in the way...

(it's number 3 on my list)

I'm trying to decide the border set up... I have the blocks sewn, and the blue flange to break up the blocks from the borders.

But hey, at least it is progress!?!

Maybe I'll get it finished this next quarter, in time for Christmas?
Yeah... I said it, Christmas... Man this year has flown by!

Tell Me:
How has your UFOs and WIPs been coming along? Do you finish projects before you start new ones or do you set things aside for later?

The Dinosaur Quilt: It's Finally Finished!

Words cannot say how excited I am that I am finishing quilts! How awesome is that? I would say that it seems my motivation has gone up (which is partly the case) but also I am figuring out getting more time into sewing. And sew days with the guild help a ton too!

Granted quilts take a lot of work and a lot of time and are harder to work on, especially when you are trying to keep it a secret from a little boy who does NOT nap! Goodness me! This one has been one of my goals for several quarters. but this last one was it!

Little Man's Dinosaur quilt.

The Berry Bunch: The Dinosaur Quilt: It's Finally Finished!

We picked up this awesome panel when I took my first trip out to the local quilt shop shortly after moving into the area, about 2 years ago... I couldn't decide what to do with it and finally picked up some fabrics on the quilt shop hop in November 2013.

Then, it was just finding time to work on it.

The Berry Bunch: The Dinosaur Quilt: It's Finally Finished!

I finished it at the most recent sew day with the guild and was super excited that when I finished the last few stitches on the binding, the bobbin ran out. Can I say, perfect timing? I was destined to finish that quilt at the sew day!

Details.

The border is done in two different batiks and sorry that I cannot remember who did those batiks. But they just fit so nicely!

The Berry Bunch: The Dinosaur Quilt: It's Finally Finished!

The backing is a minky fabric. Perfect size and just so cuddly soft! I also wrapped it around to the front for the binding.

The Berry Bunch: The Dinosaur Quilt: It's Finally Finished!

For the quilting I just stitched the ditch on the borders and free motioned around the dinosaurs. I love the way it looks on the back!

And now, to give it to him. Since it was supposed to be a birthday present in 2013, I have no idea when to give it to him. I'm thinking for a road trip we will be taking in July? That way I don't have to hide it any longer...

I'm excited to be able to knock another finish off my list. It's slowly decreasing and I am not planning on adding anything to it anytime soon... ;)

2015 Finish-Along: Quarter 2: Goals {2015 FAL Q2}

I had a finish last quarter! That was so exciting! Now if I can do that again, it would be fantastic!

So... Here is my goal list (minus 1) for this quarter!

1. Labyrinth Lap Quilt... I am still debating the backing for this, if I really want to use it...but I have nothing else...

4. The Dinosaur quilt that was *supposed* to be Little Man's birthday present (in 2013). At least I have started the quilting! At least he says he is not scared of dinosaurs anymore. Now if I can get the motivation to finish it!

5. This circle quilt. It was supposed to be for a fabric challenge.... But it'll be cool when it is done! I am not sharing what it is going to look like when it is done, but you are more than welcome to guess! ;) I just hope it looks as cool finished as it does in my head! LOL

2015 Finish Along: Quarter 1 Finishes {2015 FAL Q1}

I did it! I had some finishes! That's right, not 1 but 2! I actually finished 2! Hooray!!!!

The finishes from my first quarter goals

Chess Quilt: I had some extra motivation to help me with the Mystery Challenge group. The theme I was given really pushed me to get it done.

2. Jelly Roll quilt Yeah for 2 finishes! This one had me reeling. I ripped the row seams and inserted sashes instead, but I am super excited about how it turned out... Now to just decide what to do with the silly thing. Sell it? Keep it? Donate it? We'll See...

Only 2 finishes but that is better than nothing! I am so excited about how they look too! Love them both! The Jelly roll quilt is going to be hard to get rid of! It's the best binding job I have done so far! :)

Over in the Forest: Jelly Roll Quilt: A Quilted Finish!

I am so excited to share that I finally finished my Jelly Roll quilt! Yay! How long was this one running? A long time! But first, a picture! Introducing... Over in the Forest; A Jelly Roll Baby Quilt!

Berry Bunch: Over in the Forest: Jelly Roll Quilt: A Quilted Finish!

Looks like my first and second posts were in September of 2012! of course a lot of stuff has happened in the last 2.5 years and I guess this project got thrown to the wayside for a way long time! Talk about your unfinished object (ufo) and a work in progress (wip)!

I had all the blocks sewn together by October 2013 for my Finish Along quarter 4 goals, but never touched it until now. I wasn't satisfied with it. But now, I love it!

Berry Bunch: Over in the Forest: Jelly Roll Quilt: A Quilted Finish!

In the Tucson Modern Quilt Guild this year we have decided on themes for our show and tell projects and April's theme is "Baby Quilts". Since my baby quilts have been given away I thought I should finish this one.

Berry Bunch: Over in the Forest: Jelly Roll Quilt: A Quilted Finish!

So I sat down and decided to rip the seams like I thought about doing in 2013. I picked through 3 different yellow/orange colors in my stash to sash it up and loved the outcome of this project. It sat for a few days trying to decide what more to do with it. The quilt seemed so small, smaller than a lap blanket but I only had one jelly roll of the fabric and cannot/have not been able to find it anywhere!

Berry Bunch: Over in the Forest: Jelly Roll Quilt: A Quilted Finish!

Because of the nature of the fabric (the foxes and critters and camping scenes) and the layout of the different sized flying geese blocks, I decided to name this quilt "Over in the Forest". As I was finishing this, the children's song "Over in the jungle" kept going through my head.

Berry Bunch: Over in the Forest: Jelly Roll Quilt: A Quilted Finish!

Here is a close up image of the top row.

Berry Bunch: Over in the Forest: Jelly Roll Quilt: A Quilted Finish!

I'm pretty proud of the back too. It's just straight lines, an whole lot of turning and turning back. But it turned out pretty cool. I needed an extra row (oops) but I love it!

Berry Bunch: Over in the Forest: Jelly Roll Quilt: A Quilted Finish!

I practiced some of my free motion quilting skills with the outer border. It's been a while and I had to keep stopping to redirect behavior. Those stopping moments through me for a loop, but at about 1/4 way left I finally got the hang of it. I did triangles to follow the flying geese blocks.

Berry Bunch: Over in the Forest: Jelly Roll Quilt: A Quilted Finish!

I am pretty proud of the binding too. It's a baby blue and hand finished. I figure I needed some practice with that too. It does need a little baby on it though to complete it, I think... Ah, well... should have finished it sooner!

Hurrah for a finished un-finished project!
